Island Sights

In the southern part of Florida, removed from the hustle and bustle of Florida's large cities, are island gems where life seems to move at another pace. Places where the sand is clean, the water warm, the sunsets color the evening sky with brilliant colors and life is good.

Island Sunsets

The Florida Keys, a chain of coral reef islands, stretching for a hundred miles off the coast south of Miami, embody this feeling of freedom. Travelers leaving the mainland by car can look back in the rearview mirror and see not only the land fade away but also their day-to-day worries as they enter a tropical paradise.

The bigger Keys, Largo, Islamorada, Marathon and Key West are 'islands deluxe', the type one can drive to not fly to. They offer all the tourist services of the mainland including luxury resorts, posh restaurants and a host of activities while keeping the island atmosphere alive.

Marco Island and Sanibel Island, on the southern Gulf shore, create the same feeling of disengagement only on a smaller scale. Connected to the mainland by a causeway, but removed from the bigger cities on the land, they combine the best of Island life and accessibility.

This southern part of Florida is less traveled than the ‘Magic Kingdom’ of Central Florida or the Atlantic Beaches of Miami, but if one wants to experience what ‘real Florida’ is like, the islands is where one should be heading.

Welcome to southern sunshine... Mooo!!
